Interesting! My Dad’s mothers people were Thompsons who lived at Umkomaas/Clansthal from sometime (we think) in the early 1880s. My Great-Grandpa & Grandma were William and Emma. Their daughters Hattie, Maggie, Jessie & Lena (although we’re not that sure Hattie moved to Natal – she was born in 1867). Same Thompsons of beach picnic actvity, one wonders?

I am interested in Anne Colquhoun who married John Shortt. I am certain this reference is to her death. January 26, 1852 at the house of her daughter, in Fairview Avenue, Dublin, in the 81st year of her age, ANNE SHORTT, relict of JOHN SHORTT, ESQ., of Newtownstewart, county Tyrone. One of these days I am planning to visit Ireland and I’m wondering if you know where this might have been?

    Hi Lisa,
I was wondering if you had a list of names for the official group photo of the NZ Soldiers? I am trying to find out as much as I can about my grandfathers war time experience and I think I might have spotted him in this photo. I think! 5th in from the left. Thanks very much.

    Hi Lisa
I am Paterson too. My grandfather’s family (predecessors) had street named after them in Glasgow – i.e. Paterson Street. I have been trying off and on to find out some information.

Hi Lisa- just stumbled on you whilst I begin my own family tree. We are from the “Rishworth” strand, and we are actually still very much still in the same area of Yorkshire. I’m trying to put together the pieces of what I have found already from my Grandmother, it would be great to know if you have any other information. 🙂

    Warm Regards,
    Jodie
